Why is the Step bevel option greyed out on the Essilor Mr Blue 2.0?

The answer

The Step bevel option is greyed out when the step bevel wheel has not been mounted. Fit the optional Step bevel tool before selecting Step bevel; the function also cannot be used with Trivex or glass lenses.

Step bevel is not enabled by software alone. The manual identifies the wheel as a prerequisite, and the control remains unavailable when the wheel is not mounted.

  • The Step bevel kit is listed as an option for the machine.
  • After the wheel is installed, return to the edging screen and select Step bevel.
  • The Step bevel finish is selected by default for this job, and the customized mode is selected by default.
  • Step bevel cannot be performed on Trivex or glass lenses.

Step bevel is also different from high-base beveling: the manual states that the high-base bevel is not accessible if the step bevel tool is in place. The installed wheel therefore affects which finishing functions are available, not merely the appearance of the finished edge.
