Polishing is pre-selected and strongly recommended, but MHI and Tribrid lenses must never be polished without water. Selecting the wrong material or running without water can irreversibly damage the polishing wheel.

The polishing option is controlled from the edging screen, but its correct use depends on the lens material and water supply. The manual specifically calls out medium or high-index plastic lenses above 1.5 and Tribrid lenses.
- The polishing option is pre-selected by default.
- The manufacturer strongly recommends it to prevent small cracks.
- For MHI (> 1.5) or Tribrid lenses, select the correct material.
- Never polish either material without water.
The material selection changes the edging-cycle configuration. Choosing the wrong material can damage the lens, while polishing a specified material without water can cause irreversible damage to the polishing wheel. The manual does not say that disabling polishing removes the need to select the correct material.
