The engraving tip should be installed only for engraving cycles and must be replaced with the drill bit as soon as you return to the edging menu. The engraving-tip wear indicator is based on 50,000 mm (5 km) of engraving.

The engraving tip and drill bit share the relevant chuck, so the machine expects the correct tool for the operation selected. Leaving the engraving tip installed after engraving can trigger an alarm and prevents the normal edging-tool arrangement.
- Complete the edging operation before engraving.
- Access the engraving screen and follow the prompt to replace the drilling tool with the engraving tool.
- Perform the engraving cycle.
- As soon as you return to the edging menu, replace the engraving tip with the drill bit.
The manual gives a wear threshold of 50,000 mm (5 km). It also states that the chuck must always contain a tool to avoid oxidation, so do not leave the chuck empty during the changeover.
