Why is the groove unavailable on some Essilor Mr Blue 2.0 lenses?

The answer

Grooving can become impossible when the lens base or thickness does not allow the required groove geometry. The edger displays an error message and changes the white central line to red around the entire lens contour.

The manual describes this as a geometric limitation of the particular lens and requested groove, not necessarily a machine failure. The condition is shown directly on the groove screen.

  • The lens base may prevent the groove from being produced.
  • The lens thickness may also prevent the requested groove geometry.
  • An error message is displayed when the condition is detected.
  • The white central line changes to red over the entire lens contour.

Before trying another cycle, review the customized groove parameters. Groove depth can be set from 0.20 to 1.20 mm and width from 0.60 to 1.20 mm, in 0.05 mm steps. Reducing the requested depth or changing the groove-tracking mode may bring the request within the geometry available for the lens, but the manual does not guarantee that every lens can be made groovable.
