Why did wireless foot control stop working on the Bausch & Lomb Stellaris Phaco Machine?

The answer

WFC19 means “The system has lost communications with the Foot Control, wireless disabled.” Connect the Foot Control cable to continue the case; wireless operation must be re-enabled according to the operator’s manual.

WFC19 is more specific than a general “Foot Control not detected” message: the system has lost communication and has disabled wireless operation. The immediate recovery stated by the manual is to connect the Foot Control cable so the case can continue.

  1. Connect the Foot Control cable to the system.
  2. Continue the case using the wired connection.
  3. Use the operator’s manual procedure to re-enable wireless communication before relying on wireless control again.

This differs from WFC20, which reports lost communication but directs the user first to check the cable connection. It also differs from the normal wireless transition described in the troubleshooting guide: after disconnecting the backup cable, press one Foot Control button, and the right LED should light within 10 seconds. If the system still cannot communicate, use the wired connection or replace the Foot Control with another unit using the wired cable.
