The Stellaris system supports gravity infusion through the IV Pole and air-pressured infusion through AFI in posterior or combined surgery, but the manual states that these modes must not be used together. Using both can produce high intraocular pressures.
The user-interface message UIC14 identifies the condition: “The IV pole and AFI are both engaged.” Its instruction is to confirm that the AFI bottle is at patient eye level. The broader system instruction is to select one infusion method rather than operate both simultaneously.
The manual also explains that the system can be set for gravity infusion or pressurized-air infusion through the Infusion Tab of the More Settings Screen or through the programming interface. If infusion behavior is unexpected, check the selected infusion type and verify that the IV Pole and AFI are not both active.
