LM24 is more urgent than the “near end of life” warning LM05. The manual says that the upper illuminator bulb is at end of life and that the lamp will be disabled if it is turned off.
The specified corrective action is to replace the upper illuminator bulb. The corresponding lower-illuminator message is LM25, which uses the same end-of-life condition for the lower bulb and directs replacement of that bulb instead.
Do not confuse LM24 with LM09, which reports that the upper illuminator bulb has failed, or with LM14, which reports that the bulb type is not valid. The message also differs from LM26, which concerns excessive illuminator temperature and may turn the illuminators off within 2.5 minutes. The bulb’s end-of-life status is specifically addressed by replacing the relevant upper lamp.
