Venting releases residual vacuum when the footpedal returns to Region 1, while Reflux briefly reverses fluid flow toward the handpiece to clear lodged material; they are different functions.

Venting and Reflux can sound similar because both affect the aspiration path, but the manual defines different purposes. Venting frees an occluded tip when the footpedal is released and occurs automatically whenever the footpedal travels back to Region 1.
With air venting, residual vacuum is vented to atmospheric pressure. With fluid venting, it is vented to a positive pressure equal to the bottle-height head pressure.
Reflux instead applies momentary reverse pressure through the aspiration line to clear material lodged in the aspiration port. The system supports continuous reflux or pulse reflux. Continuous reflux pressure is based on irrigation pressure, while pulse reflux is created by momentary activation of a plunger on the reflux bulb. Pulse reflux is available only with the combined cassette.
