USM06 means “The ultrasound handpiece has not been tuned.” Select Setup, then select Prime / Tune or Tune Only before using ultrasound.

USM06 is an information message that ultrasound cannot be used until the connected handpiece has completed its tuning operation. The manual gives two menu choices, and they are not interchangeable in wording: Prime / Tune performs the combined setup operation, while Tune Only performs tuning without the full priming selection.

If tuning fails, the related USM08 instruction is to ensure that the ultrasound needle is properly tightened and repeat Prime / Tune or Tune Only. The manual also says to retune if either the handpiece or ultrasound needle is changed. A handpiece that is connected but not tuned is therefore a different condition from one that is not detected, which is reported as USM05.
