What does Myopia mode change on the Topcon Triton?

The answer

Myopia mode moves the standard interference position inward from its normal position when acquiring a tomogram of an excessively myopic eye or similar case. It changes the interference position, not the scan size or scan resolution.

Myopia mode is an OCT acquisition setting for an eye with excessive myopia or a similar condition. When it is enabled, the Triton moves the standard interference position to the inner side relative to the normal position. This is different from changing Scan Size, which changes the length or range scanned, and from changing Scan Resolution, which changes the amount of data read.

The manual also provides separate Z lock positions for normal and myopia-mode acquisitions. In the setting-menu table, Z Lock pos. (Myopia mode) and Z Lock pos.-3D Wide (Myopia mode) have a shipment value of 450, compared with 400 for the corresponding normal positions.

Myopia mode is therefore not a substitute for a diopter compensation lens. The manual describes the mode as moving the standard interference position, while the lens selector changes the optical compensation used for the patient's refractive error.
