Condition grades

Every used machine we sell is inspected and given one of three grades. The grade means the same thing on every listing in this catalogue — that is the entire point of having one.

AExcellent

Fully refurbished and tested. Minimal cosmetic wear.

A fuller definition of this grade is being written. In the meantime, ask about any specific machine and we will tell you exactly what it is.

BGood

Fully working and tested. Visible cosmetic wear.

Fully working and tested. Cosmetic wear is visible — scuffs on painted surfaces, marks on the chin rest, yellowing of older plastics — and is photographed rather than described. Everything that affects use has been checked: optics cleaned and inspected under a lamp, mechanics exercised through their full travel, electronics run through a calibration check. Consumables that were worn are replaced. Sold with the cables and accessories needed to put it into service, listed per machine.

What every grade includes

Whatever the grade: the machine is tested before it leaves us, it is sold with what it needs to work, and it is described honestly — including what is wrong with it. If a machine turns out not to be what this page said it was, tell us.
